Afternoon all, yesterday morning this noise started, I sprayed the belt and wheels a little and after a few minutes driving it goes away. When starting the engine again after stopping the noise returns?
Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for your replies. Would you avoid driving until replaced? And do you know if an RAC Warranty would cover this ?

Mine was like that for quite a while before VW got it in to repair, as for warranty, mine was under Volkswagens warranty and covered.

Does your auxiliary belt tensioner run smoothly or does it look like it’s bobbing around ( when the free wheel goes in the alternator this can cause it to )

I will have to have a look, its it easily visible through and behind the drivers side front wheel?

yes that is quite squeaky, if your brave put a 16mm spanner on the tensioner and apply a little more tension see if alters the noise incase the tensioner has gone week

Had similar noise in August, squealing on cold start up then it would disappear once engine warmed up, took into VW they diagnosed the Aux belt , changed out under warranty and all was well.......Now its back with the cold damp morning the squealing has returned!! I'm out of warranty now ..Just!

Belt and tensioner was the issue, being replaced as we speak. £32 for parts, can't be bothered with the hassle of sorting through the RAC Warranty which expires in 2 weeks, heard they are a nightmare anyway and just say it's wear and tear

Some time ago there was a recall on aux belt tensioners on some models, I would estimate long enough ago for all to have since been repaired. Odd that there are still failing tensioners out there. You don’t mention the milage but I wouldn’t expect a failure on a 2017 van, even with high milage.

Coming to 36k, I've had it since May, previous owner had the belt changed in march of this year also, according to receipts and service book
