Anyone seen springs like this before ?.
Bought a lowered T6 Camper Conversion & recently noticed a Knocking sound.
Turns out the Front offside strut mount was reinstalled the wrong way.
Thats when I 1st saw the springs. received_299411194928965.jpeg

Can you clean the rusty deposit off the spring to uncover that logo ?

Thanks for the post
I dont have access to the van till next week.
I was a bit concerned about the 3 top coils all together

I will let someone else more knowledgeable than me reply to that, but this has cropped up before on the forum. Those “coil bound” coils can’t be contributing to the ride much.

Somewhere deep in this sub-forum there's a post about knocking H&R rear springs. There was a retrofit of a bit of plastic for the spring, so that the coils don't knock together - but that's more of a sticky plaster than a proper fix.

It would be worth checking to see if the fitted spring is correct for the load rating of the Camper.

I’ve previously questioned the coil bound springs on another case. One of the expert suspension vendors / specialists stated that it is pre-load to prevent the spring being loose or falling out when the suspension is unloaded such as when the wheel is jacked off the ground.
Looks like a sh4t engineering solution but if you want to be 2” closer to centre of the Earth and a few hundred quid lighter it’s the price you pay it seems.

From the part number ( from what’s show) look like 50mm springs from HR…

Thanks for that
I've never heard of the closed coil springs before.
Just saw the top 3 coils & got a bit nervous as I didn't think it looked right.
There is a knocking sound from the front offside but the garage said it a strut mount that's been reinstalled incorrectly.

2" closer to the centre of the earth.................that cracked me up!

Ye the conversion company said they were 50mm lowering springs.
Still struggling to get my head round why the top 3 coils are closed

Personally I’m keeping my standard shocks and spending the money on loose women, booze and drugs so I go all the way to Hell and not 2” closer with a knocking noise behind me

Laugh.. So..Don’t come a knocking when @DXX vans a rocking ….as opposed to vans that are knocking:oops:
