Any tips on where to wire these in so the puddle lights work?

Thanks

On a Kombi there’s a plug at the bottom of the passengers b pillar where the step light is connected. On a panel van I think you’d need to go back to the plugs under the left hand side of the dash. When you have a feed, take it to the base of the passenger seat and through the grommet in the floor

The bars come with plug and play that is meant to go to the interior light up front. To do this it goes up under the seat, under the carpet, through the dash, up the A pillar and across the headlining. This is how I’ve done mine and it took about 2 hours in total. A much easier way would have been to go from the step light feed in the Kombi. That said, if you have to go via the A pillar etc it really isn’t that tricky.. there is plenty of info on the forum about removing bits of trim etc.

so does this feed provide a feed just for side-bar puddle lights, with actions just like the interior light?

I take it the lights wouldn’t come on when you select reverse? Because that’d be handy for when you’re reversing on to your drive in the pitch black between a dark car and a fence!

It’s the courtesy light circuit. Comes on with the doors opening or the key being taken out

If you speak to @Pauly he can make up a mini loom that plugs between the main loom and step light to save a lot of the hassle.

Ah, I see. I take it there is no controller for this - it’ll power up your side bars regardless of whether you’ve set your interior light to remain off (when opening doors / taking out keys) or not?

That's right, you can't turn off the step lights like you can the cab light. You could wire it directly to the cab light on the other side of the switch but then if you turned the cab light on whilst driving the step lights would come on. I added a small switch on the passenger b pillar so I can turn the puddle lights off when I'm camping.
