Rear interior lights - keep or re-purpose

Hi,
Just started stripping the van out for DIY camper conversion. Will ultimately be fitting some LED ceiling lights.

Question about the factory fitted rear load area lights.

Do people keep these / re-purpose the wiring (to nicer looking lights) so that when I get back into the van in the night I have some light coming on before I can turn on my LED lights?

Or should I just remove these and tuck the wiring away.

This is a great question that I also would like to hear the answer to. I'm just about to do the same and it seems a waste to not reuse the courtesy light wiring for something, but I haven't spotted people having extra lights in the back

Hi T6Norfolk - my thinking exactly. Can't see any reason not to use them.

If I get up in the middle of the night to visit the loo and open the door, do not want anything too bright waking the missus up or perhaps put them low level down (building some side pod beds - could go in there) where they will not be an issue.

Mega late response here and I suspect you may have already found a solution but here's what I did.
Ran the wiring down from each of the courtesy lights in the roof space into the centre pillars. Then I cut appropriately sized holes prior to carpeting to allow fitment of these...


They're supplied by Camperglass (THQ), 30mm Eclipse LED Spotlight Bulb at around £6 each.

They're nice and subtle, slimline and give a warm low intensity light which is perfect for a courtesy light when you have additional lighting in the ceiling for when needed.
