Evening all,

I'm looking to add a leisure battery under the drivers seat of my van.

I've had a look at this kit and wondered if anyone had used anything simailr:

6mtr CTEK D250SE 12V 20AMp Dual DC-DC Battery to Battery Charger Kit with 70amp 10mm² Leads

I also have the @Absolut5 audio package installed (which is awesome and he's a top bloke) under the driver seat. I was wondering if I could use the power cable from the amp to wire to connect to the new battery and then connect the amp to the new battery. Mainly to save me taking the interior out again :)

The battery I'm looking at is Exide Ep800

Is it worth adding a solar panel?

Any help would be awesome

In my opinion, solar panels are always worth having and as far as electric kit is concerned,Martin @travelvolts is the man. Tell him exactly what it is you are thinking of and he will give you good advice and put the full kit together for you with the properly rated cables, connectors, fuses and everything else, hope this helps

That kit is what I installed albeit I ordered it to do my own cable connections. Very good. Can’t criticise it.

I didn’t go for solar - though can add one later.

I installed the Xtreme AGM 110AH XR1750 battery.

All under the driver seat. Picture (pre tidy up!) shows battery fits in nicely

That's tidy mate! Thank for the picture. Do you just connect what ever you want to the additional battery switched and fused?

Ultimately yes. Positive and negative feeds to a fuse distribution box with a negative bus bar. Then everything connects through this. Gets a bit messy otherwise trying to take all separate leads back to the battery.

Hello Donk
What did you use to secure the battery please?
Bob

To get the battery sitting nice and flat and low to safely avoid the seat above, just need to flatten off some bits on the framework (obviously nothing drastic to affect its integrity) then a couple of right angle metal strips (painted black) fitted for it to sit between and then I just shortened a normal battery clamp bracket and rod to clamp down on from above. It’s certainly not going anywhere!

You can sort of see in this picture:
