Speed limits

Random one here:

I have a Stealth Campervan: so a campervan interior, but with NO windows in the sides or back. It has pop top, sink, cooker, fridge, microwave, bed folds out of a cupboard (NO rear seat) etc etc

It is a T28 and am pretty sure I have to do the slower set of speed limits:
50mph on Single carriageways
60mph on Dual carriageways &
70mph on Motorways

But, I want to double check, as it is the weight / speed aspect that I am confused about! I haven’t weighed it since the conversion, but might being under the 2040kgs change anything? !! It is a T28 as said above.

I don’t want to spend my life doing 60mph on Dual Carriage ways if I could have legally been doing 70mph !!!!

Can anyone help assertain the correct speeds for my situation?

don't forget the Cornish 40 mph speed limit, unless your in a 30 zone then it goes to 20 well thats what everybody thinks it is

Got to agree with the above. For example, the previous owners of our Shepherds Hut business had no smoke or Co2 detection system, electrical safety certificate, gas safe certificate amongst other things.....only when something goes wrong would the sh!t hit the fan.....

Thankfully, we are responsible owner and take preventative legislation seriously.

That's generally when they bring in the new rules for detectors and test certificates
You read about whole families dying of carbon monoxide poisoning abroad because of the lack of a detector or faulty appliance

95% of the population are over 90 and can’t remember their own name, their kids put them in the car and point them in the right direction for a ‘day trip’ to Trago to avoid care home fees.

Apologies for deviating from the speed issue but though it a good opportunity to flag the need to ensure insurance cover matches ones van.

Did you calculate the unladen weight, or use the mass in service figure?
A LWB T32 Kombi can be either side of the 2040 limit, depending on spec. Typically, DSG and 4 motion will have the biggest penalty.

'Just in case it helps...

Google AI suggests that...

• 4-motion adds up to 120kg.
• DSG adds up to 40kg.
• LWB adds up to 50kg.
• Factory H2 (high) roof adds up to 60kg.
• Bi-turbo engine is up to 100kg heavier than a 110ps engine.
• Highline trim adds up to 60kg over Startline trim.

As ever with AI, the above could be a load of bollards!

I am fully “declared up” to my Insurance company, they know it’s been converted…spoiler / splitter / banded wheels / tyres / suspension etc etc etc!

I spent a small fortune on the van, and definitely want to be covered incase of the need!

Provided they're a declared mod, I don't see why not.

Yes you can get Insured with Banded wheels and unbelievably you can even get insured with NON Load Rated tyres too: you would just need to declare them.
(I have load rated tyres but I did ask.)
