WRT reclassification, high-top is essential - it ain't happening with a pop-top. [SMC smiles smugly ;)]
Unless it's an approved conversion before 1st registration, then it gets registered as M1 motorcaravan even with a pop-top, just to show DVLA have different rules depending on who did the conversion.

Indeed, but that's a case of an initial classification rather than a reclassification.
 
Would a row of seats in the back and side/rear window not make it a dual purpose vehicle. Even a T32?
Believe so, provided unladen weight is below 2040kg... but not all T32s are.
 
Sounds that ambiguous different forces can enforce it differently
I guess a quick trip to the local weighbridge and carrying around a printout showing an unladen weight under 2040kg would remove any amibiguity.

Would be good to have in reserve should you ever get pulled. Apart from a bit of sound deadening and a pull out bed I'm pretty standard
