Sound deadening

Just in the process of doing my T6.1, I’ve come to barn doors with no windows, now I sound deadening and insulate the lower portion but do I put any on the upper? I’m thinking that any carpet over the top will show up the dodo sound deading or will it? Also on the wheel arches I’ve sound deadened but looking at other builds I’m assuming I don’t insulate them as it would be too thick. Any advice greatly received, thanks.

My van has carpeted ply panels for the upper section, behind that there is space for some sound deadening but probably not any insulation. Maybe a few mm of foam would fit in there

Yeah go for ply panels for the upper section. Or I believe you can get a 1 piece for the full door.

I also have barn doors and dodo’d everything including the full door and wheel arches … no visible dodo seen through the carpet
(Used THQ 4 way stretch)

Have a forum Search with ‘sound deadening’, there is some good info already posted.
It will take time to do correctly, my advice would be to sound deaden and insulate, especially if the van is a darker colour.
Scuttle, wheel arch liners, cab doors and cab roof will make the biggest difference to the driver but it all needs doing.

Yet he from will get done in time, priority is the back so I can get on the road with my dogs.

We didn't carpet the doors for that reason
Mine have quite a few scratches on them so it woukd make them look better, I had a look at your link and looked at my doors, there doesnt seem to be any holes on the top part of the door to clip it on, how is that done?

Yeah we have a few scratches but hoping once we fit vanshades it would cover them up.

As for the top half of those panels, I'd assume bonding them or a couple of self tappers.

Or even drilling a hole to allow fitment of trim clips.

Hi mate I’ve searched but kind really find an answer I’ve just gone through two rolls of fleece but the roof hasn’t been touched, looking on Combe valley campers this is the amount for a t6 lwb, do people do the roof, everywhere else is done barn doors sides etc. if I don’t need to spend another £40 of which I’d probably use half then I’d rather not.

Fleece is more for insulation than sound deadening. Warm damp air rises so I wouldn’t avoid the roof or you’ll get condensation in the winter. Best to insulate with a self adhesive foam with a foil surface not leaving any gaps and then add the fleece over the top.
Don’t jam the fleece in, the insulation comes from the air pockets in the fleece.
£40 quid is £40 well spent on sound deadening and insulation and £40 doesn’t go far in Transporter world.
