Socket in my conversion

Hi all,
Could anyone recommend a power cable to run a tv and firestick please. I have just bought this one and but it’s not working in the socket. Please be gentle with me if it’s obvious, I am hopeless at electrics

obvious question but does the socket work with another appliance such as a kettle?

Hi,
No, I’ve tried the kettle. Does the key need to be in the ignition? It’s a new build on a T6.1, I’m just checking over things to see if they work.

The leisure battery is on and I’ve tried it on the vehicle battery too.

Seeing it’s not a VW camper, who carried out the conversion, and what paperwork/instruction booklets did they leave you?

So three pin socket is either connected to your leisure battery via an invertor or more likely as @Nigel W says it works when the van is connected to the mains via your electric hook up.

Is that a 240v plug-in device that gives you usb sockets?
Can you not just use the usb sockets that are under the rubber cover next to the 3 pin socket? Or am I totally not understanding what that status thing is?

You can get 12V TVs specifically designed for caravans and campers which will do the job without need for mains power. I had a 'Cello' model for a couple of years, however found it of poor quality. Following some research i actually picked up a regular Samsung TV, as it was originally powered by a mains adaptor - specifically a 14V adaptor, but based on others experience and my own testing it runs the TV happily at the slightly lower voltage, it was a fraction of the cost of the 'special' caravan TV and of a much better quality.

I actually only want to use the 3 pin plug to see if the tv I had worked

Any 240v appliance, low watt light bulb etc. Or volt meter of course. Most camper shops sell a plug with lights on the front to show the polarity. Many camp sites have the polarity the opposite. If too far from a shop, Amazon or the other one, cost about a tenner. If the campsite is wrong way, may have to swap positive and negative in your blue/white socket, to match the camp sites. Sounds a bit daft, but many small camp sites and foreign, are not really that bothered. There it is take it or leave it, attitude.
