Dashboard cigarette socket USB - too long!

I have a T6 start line and a blanking plate that’s screaming out for a USB socket (I have a use for one to power one if those km/h things for when I’m abroad)

Took the dash off, fitted a socket then realised it’s too long. The dash will not go back in because of the socket. Removed it and fitted the dash back then started googling but cannot see any shorter ones, does anyone know of any ?

Yeah they are quite long aren't they ... Look for surface mount USB things, there are quite a few but they're not pretty.

I found a Just Kampers one for three times the price ! Waiting to see if it will fit and I will update the thread once it arrives. I love when you have to pay more for less

Just to finish off this thread, the Just Kampers one fits into the space. It’s shorter and the terminal connector are at 90 degrees so the wires also stay clear of the vents. I have the wrong piggy back connectors so I’ve not got it live yet but physically it’s all in place.
