My phone just got an SMS message from Volkswagen. It says #mm1
No number attached, no method of replying. I looked it up and the only other thing on the net was
Strange text messages from Volkswagen
someone else getting the same, and they never got an answer.
The poster on that thread saying they were booked in for a service is a bit odd as slightly related I'm in for first MOT next week and the dealer has my mobile number from the last service. Other than that I thought it was connected to my TKSTAR GPS tracker but that appears differently.
????

I got an email from my local VW dealer saying they had been hacked and customers were now recieving dodgey emails asking for links to be clicked.

I never click on anything anyway.

For some bizarre reason VW thinks I bought 12 vans from Great Oak Sales at Kempton instead of only one and subsequently get a dozen emails and texts telling me about needing a service and then another dozen saying I need an AC service. You can imagine my less than complimentary response. Hopefully all removed now but not convinced.

You could always report them to the information commissioner who will be happy to know if (a) they are using your data in a manner that they shouldn’t be, or (b) have not been informed by VW themselves to detail a data breach (hack) that enabled your data to be stolen from them, especially when you are now getting emails from whomever stole the data in the first place.
