Sliding rail for rear seats.

Hi all.
I’ve bought my t6 kombi and looking to put some caravelle rails in the back but see that they are an extortionate price. So, is it just a T slot extrusion or is there something more to it and possibly an alternative route? Any advice would be great!
Thanks
Ryan

I was shocked at the price as assumed it’d be easy too!

I can only think very few manufacturers have taken a clone system through crash test approval, hence there aren’t many options.

I’m guessing the extrusion and mounting plate adapters are cheap, but the number of vans you’d destroy and the cost of the certifying tests themselves are prohibitive…

It is what it is, type approval, crash tested systems, insurance and safety implications, resale value if not certified.
Have a Search on floor rails for options.
If you think the rails are expensive wait until you see the price of the rail seats, IMO by far the best option if you want flexible use of the vans cargo space.

It is definitely the way I want to go, to use rails. But just didn’t think it would cost that much! Ha ha

If it’s any consolation you’ll get a fair portion of it back when you sell provided it’s still in good condition.
There are a few suppliers of used California / Caravelle equipment which is obviously better than buying new.

If anyone can point me in the direction of where to get second hand that would be great. I’m happy to fit it myself, just trying to source rails. But will a rock and roll bed not just fit straight on the rails?

Try calling Colin at Oxford T5. He specialises in Caravelle conversions.

Rails are brilliant for maximizing space. I went with Smart Beds Evolution R rail system (LWB rails in SWB van for maximum flexibility), it certainly cost a lot of money but it's very well made, durable and crash tested - felt like a worthwhile long-term investment for the quality and safety.
