Skyline poptop trim to allow solar panel cabling into cabin

Afternoon all, decided to add a solar setup to my ctek 250 which is located under the drivers seat.

Roof bars and solar panel fitted successfully, but now I'm considering the best way to route the cables. Luckily I have barn doors meaning i have the seals for the tailgates brackets to route through....

However, I have a skyline poptop which has some sort of interior cross beam covering that route through.

Is it safe to drill through do you think? I've no idea on how to remove it.

Any suggestions welcome. Pics attached.

I’ve always wondered how that box was fixed, do you have any pics with it removed?

Not a particulary good one. It's basically an L shaped (side on profile) bit of ply. The 3 screws hold one side and there is something holding the otherside. Either way I was able to pivot it open, slide my hand in and feed through the wires.

Took longer than I expected because the L shaped ply is battened in place with more small cut outs of ply. One of which was partially blocking the holes. Got there eventually.

Inside was one set of wires which I assume feed the downlighters. Apart from that nothing but a void.

That's a good question..I have no idea. I didn't realise they made different types.

It's a rigid top which is flat. Canvas inner with gas struts. Has a bed but can be lifted for more head room.
