Simplest power routing for new amp?

I'm going to be fitting a DSP amp to the van at some point soon and the installation manual suggests using a direct battery connection (via in-line fuse) rather than sharing a supply with the head unit. The amp is pretty moderately rated so the recommended fuse is only 30A.

Do I need to find a route through to the engine bay/battery in order to source a 30A supply or is there any alternative internal connection I could use (fuse board maybe)?

Thanks.

If you have a leisure battery you could go off that. Otherwise, in passenger footwell, slide your hand up the a-pillar and you’ll feel a grommet cap. Pop that out and slide a cable up through the hole….it will appear by magic behind the battery. Use this to route your line (with an appropriate grommet or pop a hole in the grommet you removed!)

Lots of vans have a blanked cable under the passenger seat not being used, generally 50 or 100 amp supply direct from main battery fusebox under battery

Interesting. I wonder if that is otherwise used for heated seats maybe (though a 1.2kW heated seat might be 'a bit much').

Question is whether I have this cable and, if I do, whether I should save it for when I go further crazy and buy a dedicated amp for the sub :)

Well, pickle my lilly, I think I do have the near mythical 100A 'spare' battery connection under my passenger seat!

@Pauly, does this look like the connection you were referring to? I've added an arrow pointing to the wire where it emerges from the floor and circled the bundle of wires where it appears to terminate (unused).

Yeah that looks like it
It comes direct from the primary fusebox underneath the battery so you won’t be able to turn it off unless you open up the ebox
It’s normally fused at 50a from the factory
