Side Bars And Puddle Lamps Easy Or Hard Diy Fit?

So as the tittle says are the VW side bars with puddle lights as sold in the forum shop and easy or difficult DIY fit, its the electrical side I am more concerned about.
Anyone got first hand experience?

The instructions tell you to run the cables to the front cab roof light where it is plug and play to connect so no messing around with wires, the other option that some people do is to cut the long cables off that come with them and wire them into the sliding door step light, this obviously will involve cutting and joining a couple cables but saves running them through the vehicle

The OEM setup cables run externally behind the under-body plastic trays through a grommet in the floor (by the seats) and up to the front cab light assembly.

the bars bolt on directly and OEM fitment doesn't bother with cutting out the underbelly plastic covers (just bent over the bolt fixings)
