I don't know if this fits into 'classic' I considered my Golf to be one when I bought it and it was 19 years old. This, believe it or not is 21 years old.
My lad came home with it yesterday. The 21" Bentleys are questionable, and it needs a little bit of paint, but all that can be put right in time.

Nice, but deffo not a fan of those wheels.

No, but being 5x112 and genuine Bentley ones, they should sell for enough money to buy something more suitable.

Now I asked the fella at the car parts shop about wheels for it. He said he only sold black ones. I really want blue ones to clash with the aubergine paintwork. Can anyone recommend a shop that sells blue wheels please?

New top torque mounted fitted. Been putting it off for a while, but as it has warmed up a bit (my garage is unheated) I now have no excuse.

Not difficult, just a pain as a load of bits have to come off to access one of the bolts. Nevertheless, all done. Drop links and control arms next.

The black one had a gearbox fault and a failed high pressure fuel pump, but for ÂŁ700, it's a hell of a lot of NLA parts for the red one.

Needs a 4 inch lift and some mud tyres, then you can go anywhere... slowly.
It's running on 205 70 15s and feels a bit overtired to be honest, I had one moment where we went in a bit hot and it felt like I was a teenager bump steering his ratty fiesta around a tight roundabout.
I like it's present height as it can almost clear speed humps but really holds on to corners, haven't taken it off road apart from dodgy car parks but it looks like it would fare well.

It's petrol but feels larger than a 1.3 as there's a lot of inertia in the engine and bags of torque, speed wise we've had it up to 80 regularly... 80 kph 🥸

Cant remember the size of tyre I had on mine, but they were Insa Turbo Sahara's... it struggled to do 50mph haha

When you say 80kph it sounds so much faster than the actual 49.709mph according to 9 out of 10 teenagers.

Had a drive out in the C70 yesterday, roof down with Mrs Sasquatch aboard. I remember having it tuned in 2008 when the warranty expired and being well impressed with the enhanced T5 midrange grunt but now it seems so slow, heavy and noisy - my, how things have moved on in only 2 decades!

Nevertheless, the 5 banger sounded glorious and with the roof down I could enjoy the soundtrack all the more, and the typically fierce Scandinavian heater kept us toasty.

I've started assembling the parts to give it a bit of a refresh, new control, arms, drop links, transmission fluid, and over the summer have a programme planned to refresh all the anti-rust coatings and redo the sills and box sections,

But before then it's the first classic car show of the season this coming Sunday, and I hope to report back with lots of pics of interesting vehicles for you all to enjoy.
