C70 in for its MOT tomorrow. Its only done 76 miles since the last one so hoping it should pass.

VOC reckon only 30 odd of my exact ,model left, about half that on the road, and I om.y know of one other in comparable condition.

My Golf is being tested tomorrow too. I've replaced the front dampers and top mounts (looked to be original) and front and rear discs and pads over the winter, so all should be good.

I have got a place at Shedfest booked, so it will actually get an outing this year.

The old girl passed. Minor advisory for slight play in ARB bushes, which is odd as the same tester didn't report that at the last year less than 80 miles ago, and a deteriorating ball joint boot. So, an easy hour to sort when the sun is shining.

A quick wipe and wax and back into storage for another month.

Standard, about 240. Now it's 340.

The brace is a Volvo item, came as standard from the slight 2002 facelift onwards. The lower subrframe also sprouted solid bushes at that tine. Its not really to help the handling, but rather to try and tighten things up as without a roof the monocoque wobbled and vibrated like an blancmange. The updates helped, but poor surfaces do still unsettle it a bit.

The actual handling isnt too bad, but you can't take liberties. Its a GT rather than a sporty thing, and even as standard the engine is more than the handling can cope with. - Dubbers mk2 Golf would go,scampering away on a twisty B road.

But the noise of that 5 banger is glorious, like Godzilla clearing his throat.
