I’d need to measure it as I had a couple of bikes hanging off the back. Mrs JOG says the caravan is 8.05m but doesn’t think that includes the bikes

Just to throw my spoke in, if I was going to the expense of doing a camper conversion, it would be on a LWB van. Ergo, sell the van.

Our plan is to have a bed in the van and a driveaway awning for cooking / lounging. I dont think your current van is too far away from being adapted. It seems a lot of expense for possibly just a few weekends.

I was not suggesting one way was better than another. I was putting a different slant on the conversation based to what suited us at the time having done both, albeit without towing a car.

Taking into account the long wait for the main suppliers of pop tops, kitchens and beds (depending on what you are looking at ofcourse) I would not recommend anyone to think about converting their van unless they are happy to have it done by about September/October at the earliest..

There are some nice converted vans on the market so it might be easier to buy ones that already had all the work done and just sell your day van as it is. It will be the quickest solution without any faff..
