Service cost t6.1 2026

I had the same idea when I got mine. Take it to VW, bend over, take the hit and keep them sweet for warranty work. They weren't great. Let's just say they prioritise revenue over service and more importantly honesty. They weren't even that knowledgeable tbh.
My interim service at my local Indy in December was £197 - just oil and filter and a check over. He wanted an additional £60 + VAT to do the brake fluid but then bottled it because a couple of the bleed nipples are heavily corroded. They look fine to me, so guess that's a job for me when the weather warms up.

Its my first service for my T6.1 and as still under warranty looked at using VW for its first.. Went on the lookers website £348.69 for an oil change and inspection which I thought seems a lot just for an oil change?? I then get a call after setting the book up and get told the online prices are incorrect!!!! so now being told a basic oil change £501 and a oil change and pollen filter £592 is this me or is this ridiculous?? Van has done 8k and for some reason the dash service has come on early as not 2 years old until Oct

Love to know if anyone else recently used VW for service

I had the first oil & filter change (and "visual health check", whatever that is) at just under 7,000 miles in June last year (dash advised it was due - about 18 months from first registration date). VW Van Centre (Liverpool) charged £240.00 incl. VAT

Whereas mine in Guildford is double that 🤦🏻‍♂️ for the same service.. for some reason my van decided to bring the service message up 6months too early with 8k on the clock.. but on top has had the brake fluid done too!

Since the "service", the Van Centre have bombarded me with emails saying I should get the brake fluid changed.
The dash indicates the next oil change service is due in about 15,000 miles or 500 days. I will probably get it done earlier, when the van hits 3 years old, and have the brake fluid done and the MoT at the same time.

Ya I bite the bullet on the brake fluid as they won’t be seeing it for another 2 years or 18,000 or whatever the cycle is! Only advantage maybe is my van wasn’t registered on their database for any recalls etc which has now been updated.. not that it should have any hopefully..

A classic main dealer con.

I paid for them to do it once, they then insisted a year later I needed a brake fluid change - told me at booking, told me at check in (twice), called me to tell me during the service then told me again when paying. On collection I took the invoice from one year previous and asked, using my outside voice so the other punters might hear - “did you really change the brake fluid last year as indicated on this invoice and are therefore trying to scam me this year or, assuming I need it now - as you keep telling me, did you not bother changing it and just charged me for it?”.

All of a sudden it didn’t need changing. It was all just some silly mistake and of course they had done it when they charged me for it. (Spin for - we’re trying to scam you now, sir).

I can only imagine lots of people blindly agree to these scams

Such wheezes arent the preserve of franchise dealers. Right across trade they're trying to either sell you a faulty vehicle or bend you over at service or MOT time.

I was once dropping my car off for an MOT at an indie when the old biddie the queue ahead of me said, "I hope you don't find too much wrong with it, I've only got £300." I was there at the other end of the day (their courtesy bus picked us up on the same round) to see her relieved of £299.99...

Main dealer or not this is the Russian roulette has work we have paid for actually been done on our vehicles.. something like brakes I would like to think they would seriously not mess/scam a customer as when it goes wrong could be life changing (not an pollen filter is it)

I think main dealers are clever at getting extra work out of people not knowing their vehicles thats often not needed. Hate the thought are they not actually doing the work you pay but this could be said for any garage

Luckily my OCD found dribbles of oil and brake fluid in the engine bay have been wiped spotless.. :)
