150 Kombi Manual

Morning gents
This subject has probably been done to death but....................

I'm about to do my own (annual) intermediate service on my Euro 6 T6 150 manual. It gets the "official" service every two years too but I always do an annual (approx7000 miles) intermediate as two years on the same oil seems ridiculous to me. Anyhow, I'm just wondering if any of you have any recommendations re where to get the bits from.........and which brand or brands to go for. I don't skimp where quality is concerned........I'm just beginning to object to VW's parts pricing.........anyone bought any VW adblue recently?!!!! Halfords actually looks okay price wise with my trade card but the dimensions and specification details don't look right to me somehow. Currently, it has a Mahle LX786. Not sure which oil filter as this was done at the last service by an independent........I always use the VW oil filter when I do the intermediate.
Also, look at the photo's......does anyone know if the plastic flap thing in the top right hand corner of the air filter box pops off? Reason I'm asking is because there was a surprising amount of leaf debris in the box and around that "flap" before I vacc'd it all out. I'd just like to know if it's removable so I can get further in with the vac. The air filter was okay......just bashed it and vacc'd it for now.....but I'll change it. Probably a silly question but where does the air actually come into the box????
Bit long winded but thoughts on Air/oil/cabin filters and indeed oil type......I always go for Castrol edge 5w 30 to VW 507 spec............would be really appreciated.
Thanks guys

Hi,
I’ve always used Euro car parts filters and Castrol oil.
The OH has a Range Rover Evoque which has been oil and filter changed every 7000 miles and never had any issues with. Now on 138000.
Personally, if you are not doing mega miles either the Mahle or Bosch filters would be fine but I wouldn’t scrimp on the oil.
Just my personal opinion however 😎

Opie Oils are very competitive on prices and safe to say no counterfeit items.
I go for the activated cabin filter, worth a few quid extra.
Air enters the airbox at the RH side grill.
5w30 Castrol Edge Long Life as you stated.

Thanks mate.......you're right..........why scrimp on the oil when engines cost so much!!👍

Okay, so as a bit of an update, I just rang the local VW stealer! Here are the VW prices inc vat!!
Oil Filter £15.42
Air Filter £25.26
Cabin Pollen Filter £47.46
Sump Plug £5.94
Fuel Filter (Not doing that.......it's got disaster written all over it!) £56.34
10litres Adblue £38.34
So there you go!!!😮

My engines oil analysis (BiTurbo without EGR) regularly shows the soot contamination at Caution level at approx 8K miles.
That’s probably the limiting factor with oil reliability on a modern Diesel engine.

Is it worth checking to see if the ducting needs cleaning out and is it easily accessible?

Never renewed a sump plug in my life but that’s up to you. They always seal.

Wow!

Don’t overlook the gearbox oil change, not part of VW schedule but I’d do it every 70K miles based on what I’ve seen.

Gear box oil change..........never even hear it mentioned in relation to a manual????

It’s not part of the service schedule, filled for ‘Life’.
Depends on how long you want to keep your van, VW would like you to replace it every 5 years when the warranty expires.
