Sargent EC50 problem (leisure battery)

Hi all! Some advice please on a Sergent EC50 problem please.

My leisure battery is fully charged (tested on voltmeter at 13v). I have a solar panel which constantly charges and of course when I plug in to mains.

Problem is, when I select L battery on the EC50, it alarms and flashes red LED by the battery symbol and the bottom LED of the charge indicator. Lights etc don't work when L selected.

So, I have a full battery but it seems the controller is not registering the charge. Have checked fuses at the battery end and on the EC155 unit, all seem to be ok.

Can anyone advise me please?

Many thanks,

what's the voltage of the battery at the terminals?

got a multimeter to test it?

and post a pic of the fuses you tested. . . the Sargent should have a fuse at the battery connection points.

that will effectively reset the EC155 and the EC50 panel . . . .

which may also work if its all got confused.

Resolved.....!! There is a small set of fuses under the driver's seat which I didn't even know was there. After taking half the van apart, we found it.....!!

Thanks for your help!

This may be a bit late but I felt I still wanted to share my problem in the hope it might help others, my system is the Sargent ec50 control panel with a Sargent ec155 power supply unit, I’ve not been able to use mine for 12 months due to the control panel intermittently kept beeping and shutting down the system suggesting a low leisure battery, I have two batteries linked in my set up and I’m happy to say I’ve finally discovered the fault, it turned to be a loose battery clamp on the negative pole of one of the batteries and a poor earth to body cable on the same negative pole.
Hallelujah hope this helps someone else

It's very easy to miss faults in the ground side because of the way vehicles are wired everyone tend to trace the wires which are almost all positive, but they're vital for a complete electrical circuit.

I am scratching my head with a similar problem with me van.
Normal day, start the van, all fine drive to work fine. Sat outside work letting it idle a couple of minutes, Sargent panel starts beeping!
Strange.
Another day, start the van, Sargent panel bleeps, immediately check my Victrin stuff incase of a low voltage but all looks perfect. Drive to work fine, idles fine.
Another day, start the van, mid drive the Sargent panel starts bleeping again!
I have checked so much stuff but really need to understand what can make the panel alarm sound in the first place, it's totally random, starter battery voltage is good even in cranking, leisure battery is good, have Victron 50a B2B charger, Victron solar charger, Victron Shunt with additional wire to monitor starter voltage. Nothing bad in history on any of these.

Any help or advice be amazing!

In summer I occasionally get a brief high voltage alarm, I think the set point is 15v. AGM solar charge via CTEK.

So after replacing a failed leisure battery (under 12 months old) I have reinstalled everything and all appeared fine (for 2 days) Tonight, start the van, the panel bleeps with all LED's lit up for approx 2 seconds and then is fine. Check the shunts battery history, knowing I had reset the history after renewal of the LB and no low voltages on either starter or leisure batteries.

I'm at the point of just finding the bleeper, let's put this politely...... disabling it.

Any ideas? The only way I can force the same thing to happen is removing one of the 2 earth's from the Sargent unit, but the wiring appears good and with the circuit active is showing no voltage drop using a meter between the unit and leisure battery on power or earth side.

As @DXX says though, is there any chance it’s a high voltage alarm? Do the bleeps correspond with high voltage spikes?

Quite possible, the time of alarm, starter battery shows in shunt at 14.9v I have now set a high voltage alarm in the shunt at 15v for both starter and leisure batteries and will see if they tally up.

Does it beep more in cold weather? I ask because charging voltages can peak higher in lower temperatures if your charger uses temperature compensation.
