Sargent alarm

Hi

I have an alarm going off on the Sargent panel when plugged into EHU and charger switched on.

Beeping and flashing green light at top right - stops when disconnect EHU (which was connected to house socket - only way to stop it).

Charger is EC155 and controller EC50.

It also has a solar panel with MPPT controller.

Battery voltages (across terminals):

- leisure battery 13.64v
- starter battery 12.42v

Does this show both batteries are health and full charged?

MPPT is running at the same time and shows:

- 112 Kwh
- 21v (that sound a lot)
- 2n

Any ideas why the alarm goes off, I can see that would be annoying on site if sleeping (us and anyone around us)!

Sorry if this is a stupid question new to campers and how this should work / when I should plug stuff in / charge.

Thank you in advance.

Slow day at work.
Is the red charger switch on on the Sargent box?
Mind you I’m frequently on hookup with solar and the Sargent both charging without any issues.

Off to Weymouth next week with EHU and the leisure battery will have run down a bit as fridge will be on and 140 miles so will see if the charger starts alarming.

Should I only put the charger on when it needs charging or leave on all the time?

Sorry if this is a newbie stupid question,

Resurrecting old thread - as winter approaching took another look at the charger and think worked out what’s happening.

There are a number of other boxes so hopefully someone will be able to clarify if my understanding is right.

1. There is a Sargent EC155 - this works as a consumer unit / fuse box - if I switch the charger button on it then works as a charger too.

2. There is a MPPT box that deals with solar panel and charging.

3. There is an Orion TR Smart DC to DC box and that charges the leisure battery from the main battery when driving.

4. There is a Victron Blue Smart Charger - this charges the leisure battery when on hookup (and guess vehicle battery if I select that one).

If I put the Sargent charger switch on I get an alarm and that is because the Sargent and Victron are ‘both’ trying to charge the battery.

Does this sound right?

What's your battery? Lithium?

But yes, the Victron presumably is there to replace the Sargent mains charging facility.

The Sargent therefore is now just for distribution of the 12 and 240v.

Thanks CAB took me a while for the penny to drop that the Sargent not needed to charge, it’s an AGM at the moment, I don’t do much off-grid camping but when it needs replacing will go lithium.
