Rust inside

Hi everybody,

I'm starting to do the conversion of my van into a camper. After removing the decoration panels I found some pieces of rust. Could anybody please recommend anything to prevent or slow down the rust there?

Should I sand it down before adding anti rust spray? Which anti rust spray you could recommend for my case?

I'd rub it down, paint it with something like Hammerite, and then once dry given it a good dose of Dynax S50. Indeed, you could probably just use the S50.

I’ve got 3 coats of this on some external steel, hasn’t been touched for about 8 years, never bothered to top coat.
Not the cheapest but by far the best non-industrial I’ve come across.

Nope.

I comes with instructions, also online, it is a primer, see image i posted earlier. Not suitable for galvanised areas, there is a Special Primer for galvanised but you won’t need it there.

It looks like someone may have cut metal with an angle grinder and these are bits of swarf left. Just a thought, still need sorting but you may find with a bit of plastic you get most of the swarf off. if it is. Ali

I thought that too but a later pic shows no windows cut in and bulkhead present. Could be from something else?

@DXX was there a paint of choice in the marine world?

I’ve used POR15 which basically has superglue in it - you dont want to get it on your skin as takes ages to get off!
