Roof rail removal ?

Hi all

Recently bought my first Transporter, a SWB T6.1 Kombi, which has roof rails fitted.

I've no need for the rails, and I just see them as excess weight / wind resistance, so I'm thinking of removing them. Then at some point in the near future I then want to fit a Fiamma F45s that I already have.

Is there a guide anywhere on how to remove them ? Or any advice from anyone who has already done so ?

I guess my main question is - once removed, what is done about the fixing holes? Do I need to refit the bolts in the holes, or are there some alternative fixings/plugs that I need to use ?

Thank you in advance!

Just get some of the OEM large flange bolts / rubber washers. My SWB T6 has 8.

They are available on ebay but often the dealers are similarly priced.

I’m planning on fitting roof rails next year to carry rigid solar panels
