Roof Rail Fitting Help

Just received a set of aftermarket roof rails and thought they'd be a doddle to fit but after spending an hour freezing my fingers off today I gave up. Is there a knack to getting the bolts that drop through the roof rails to line up with the captive nut in the roof and actually engage? I just could not get them to start on the thread no matter what I tried.

The rails are made by Can Auto, called CROWN roof rails. They seem good quality, if only i could get them fitted....

Roof Rail Leak Free Fixing.

Got some ebay roof rails and did not want to gorm silicone into and around the fixing holes. Instead I got some M6 threaded bar cut a little longer than the bolts supplied with the rails. I then used the rubber washers that came off the blanking bolts together with a washer and M6 nyloc nut...

I’ve the same issue got 5 bolts which were a struggle and then couldnt get the last bolt in, scratched my roof after spending two hours trying to get the last one in I didnt want to be beaten. In the end I took them off and smashed them in half in a fury. That was half hour ago but i feel so much better for it
Think ill pay for someone else to do it
