Wanted Rocking Horse...

Hi Guys,

I’m new to the forum and looking to join the T6 club! But I’m looking for a rare beast, a TSI Kombi with a particular spec. Whilst it’s a very long shot I thought I’d post what I’m looking for in case you know of one that will become available. What I’m dreaming of is as follows;

SWB
TSI
Kombi
Highline
DSG
Factory LEDs
Milage under 20k
Single slider
Standard bodywork, no spoilers/sport line
Colour...Indium Grey

My plan is for a fairly commercial look everyday van come ’day van’ which I’ll keep for the long term. I have two young kids (6&3) so this will be a van to see them through until they don’t want to socialise with their parents! But longer term it’s possible I may go for a semi camper conversion, hence the preference for a single slider.

There is a van close to the above currently available locally, but it’s a twin slider in Starlight Blue. I’ve not seen the colour in the flesh and I’m trying to convince myself I can like it but not sure. Indium Grey would definitely be my top pick.

Obviously I’m looking for rocking horse s@@@, so need to be flexible to an extent. If you know of a van close to this specification that will become available please let me know. Many thanks.

@Ukfozzybear all you added to this was “lwb” super helpful

I’ve seen a few over the last few months. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for you. I only notice them because I actually really want one

Thanks, much appreciated. I don’t have Instagram and the VAS website doesn’t appear to show vehicles for sale, but that black one would be a prime target if SWB.

If I find one I’ll only wash it with unicorn tears:D

Hi @Dansporter I have a Starlight Blue TSI, not for sale, but I think you should have a look at the one local to you as its a really nice colour. I was unsure about it all the time I was waiting for it to arrive but I'm really happy with it now. When you see it in person I think it's one of the best colours avaliable, maybe I'm slightly biased.. I hope you find the one you want, I give you my word you will not be disappointed with a TSI (providing your not sensitive about MPG)

Thanks @Gazbadge. I hear what you’re saying about the colour. If it wasn’t for the lockdown shenanigans I’d go for a look firsthand. The pictures I see online are always hard to judge having not seen it in the flesh. In some I really like it, others I’m not keen. A familiar story to many when choosing a colour I’m sure! Don’t want to be left with any nagging doubts if I’m keeping it long term  The other niggle is twin sliders, I know they are great for everyday but don’t want to restrict conversion options in the future. Oh the stress haha!:slow rofl:

@Dansporter I get what you're saying about the twin sliders. Mine's single and although I can see why people would like twins I'm glad mines not. Are you looking for a 150 or 204?

I’d prefer a 204 but I’m likely to remap it, in which case it wouldn’t matter. My understanding is the hardware is the same in both but need to do some more research.

As far as I know from reading on here they are identical other than the mapping so both good for 300ish with a stage 1

AFAIK 150 is only manual and 204 is only DSG.
I wanted one too, but was a bit late for my budget with regards to the recent ridiculous prices. I also wanted the DSG, which was even more of a stretch.
Good luck with the hunt.

Always worth considering a panel van and having windows fitted along with either kombi seats or a RIB bed.
You definitely won’t be disappointed with a TSI, I have a manual 150 which will be getting remapped to 300 in a few months when the warranty is up.
I’d certainly hold out for LEDs too.
Keep an eye on Cooler Commercials, I know they are a long way away but they seem to get quite a few TSIs in stock.

@Sharpe how do you find the manual TSI? I have a DSG and love it but would like to hear how people find the manual. I've got a pendle map on mine, was too excited and couldn't wait for the warranty to finish.
