RIB Bed worth the extra?

About to have my conversion started and can’t decided I’d it’s worth paying the extra for a RIB. The install comes with a basic, M1 tested Rock and roll... not sure if the brand. But nothing well known.

I would be another £1500-1600 for a rib. I like the fact sleep on opposite side, look better, completely fixed, iso fixings and get more storage behind the seat.
Guess they sit out further into the centre of the living area though?

& they sit a lot higher than a r&r bed
Might not be a bad thing, but worth mentioning
I've just had a r&r bed fitted and am boarding out & carpeting underneath for storage and will be using a mattress topper which will store underneath

We have a RIB bed - I think they allow quite a lot more storage - the amount of stuff we get underneath is amazing. If you look at photos too me the amoung of clear space where you can put larger items etc is more limted on a R&R set up.

We hired a van with a R&R bed - setting it up seemed somewhat fiddly and I remember trapping fingers - literally on the RIB 2 levers and done in a few seconds - it really is a good set up. The ideal is for you to see both but obviously not easy at the moment...

Your budget will quickly go but make sure you spend wisely on the key areas...

I specifically wanted a RIB and it’s very good. Good storage below and a flat bed. They do sit a little high, which means my kids’ feet don’t touch the floor.

Mines a rib, my lads is a R&R. Mine is sooo much easier to put up. His is a little comfier. Mine allows some 'boot' space. His boot is full of rock-and-rolled-sponge.
By setting the seat back at an angle, I can sit comfortably in the boot looking out of the tailgate - great for Old Warden!
He has to clear the floor area to pull the R&R bed out, I dont need to, in fact I have my portaloo just under the foot of the bed, and stuff ready for morning.
I prefer the rib ;)

It will be a known brand, testing is too expensive for "bloke in a shed" creations.

I have a rib on sliders , fitted by Clear Cut in Barnstaple. Very pleased, but it is higher than a rock and roll. Not a problem if you have a pop top and use it often. I am 6ft 1in and head clearance with pop top down is ok but compromised. Storage under is great , I have built a sub floor within the bed frame so that I can move the bed without needing to think about what might be stored . And as already mentioned by others you can alter angles of the elements so you can make different seating arrangements facing either way . Just need restrictions lifted so can get some use out of it !!! Jeff

Thanks for all the advice. I think the rib is definitely a more practical choice... only negative really is it eats a little in the living area?
What about when it comes to cost and resale. The extra £1600 for it..... is that something that Would put value on the van when I sell in the future.
the vast majority of vans I see for sale are rock and roll.
