Reversing Camera T6.1 - retrofit additional camera on a trailer?

HI All,

I love my reversing camera, but cant see through my bike rack or trailer when attached. Anyone understand the electronics and if it would be possible (with some careful wiring) to fit a toggle switch along with a second camera (that perhaps plugs into the Towbar plug) so I can see behind on my media pro screen when towing?

I guess it depends how happy you are with the wiring side but it is achievable with some form of changeover relay for the video signal
@Robert has done something similar for an optionally mounted rear camera

Very interesting idea!
I actually do need something like this so will start my thinking .
Definitely possible with OEM T6 lowline camera via 13 pin socket.
Pin 12 could be used for video "positive" signal and pin 13 as GND(screen).

I had a tow bar fitted at vw when I bought my t6 but it was fitted by an outside firm, I have now found that the pin no 10 (fridge ign live) is not working. Would it be ok to put a link wire from pin 9 perm live across to pin 10 , I know that if the fridge is switched on 12v and left on...

Highline camera would be much more challenging though.

Im more than happy with doing the wiring, just dont know how the wiring is configured. Is it a p2p digital signal (switchable) or is it some kind of network signal (ethernet)? Does the camera haver any kind of coding (will need configuration access to the control unit/head unit) or is it just a handful of wires that can simply be mechanically switched (or as you say via a powered relay)?

My fear is that these vehicles are so complex now, that any kind of mod'ing is a complex electronics/software affair....
