Reversing Camera Draining Battery

Hi all,

I have a AutoVox reversing camera that plugs into the upper dash 12v cig lighter on my 2019 T6 Shuttle

I am unable to leave it plugged in as there is a minor drain and can struggle to start if not used for a week or so.

What's should I do:-

1. Add a switch to the cig lighter on the negative so I can isolate when I am not using the van. (Are all 3 cig lighters always live?)

2. Piggyback onto the fusebox on a switched live feed, assuming I can get a piggy to 12v cig lighter adapter.

3. Continue to plug/unplug every time I need the camera.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

connect it to an ignition feed that is only live when the engine is running.

seeing as thats the only time you need it?

Autovox do a hardwire kit that will give you everything you need. Just need to run the cable and plug into the correct fuse within your fuse panel. Google your model and your find the kit.

you could use something like this
DC 12V 24V Car Cigarette Lighter Switch Power Socket Plug with LED Indicator ebay
