Renogy DCC50S not charging leisure battery from Solar PV.

Hello.

I have a Renogy DCC50S charging my AGM leisure battery from both my engine & solar suitcase (for off grid camping). I rarely use the PV but last time I tried it it wasn't charging the battery through the DCC50S. Luckily I always carry the separate croc connectors to the PV output leads. Now I have a little time I'm trying to debug the issue.
My solar PV gives an output when connected to the battery direct (Crocs) but not when put through the Anderson connectors through the Renogy DCC50S. I double checked the connection between the PV connectors to the DCC50S using my multimeter connectivity and there are no breaks. I temporarily put the PV through it's own small Solar Charge Controller (SCC), which is how I can see there is no output, it shows 601 fault, I.e. open output. With direct connection the SCC shows charging, but through the DCC50S no charging. The app shows nothing on solar but does show charging when the engine in running.

Has anyone suffered this too and if so can you offer any advice on if the DCC50S is faulty and perhaps how you remedied the issue please?

The light on the front of the DCC50S shows green tick, amber battery status, dark PV and dark engine which does light up when the engine in running.

Hmmm. Is your suitcase Renogy too? What’s the make / model?

Yeah, it's the Renogy Solar Suitcase. 200W 12V. It has worked previously. It just stopped working. A couple of issues happened previously, the Anderson connector had a terminal not fully home. The ring crimp to one side of the inline protection fuse has come away from the cable, but these were an easy fix. I connected the output of the suitcase Solar Charge Controller to the battery using croc clips and it charges. I checked the direct connection between the PV to the input of the DCC50S using my multimeter on connectivity and it has no issues. So between the PV and the DCC50S there are no breaks. It must be in input to the DCC50S. I was wondering if there was a fuse in the Charger Controller which may have blown. Hence the question. I will have to dig out the manual or see if I can download it.

I bet Renogy themselves would be able to shed light on this since you’re Renogy panels and charger. Have you tried their support? Let us know how you get on.

I haven't. I assumed they were a Chinese reseller, and that their after sales would be poor.

If I remember correctly they’re American. And they answered my questions pretty quickly.
