Rear parking sensor fail

One of my rear parking sensor is always on so when I select reverse, I get a red distance warning. I've cleaned the sensor face and ensured it's fitted correctly, so I can only assume it's failed.

Does anyone have the part number for a rear middle parking sensor for a tailgate van?

Thanks Duncan

Have you tried switching two sensors around to prove the fault ?

Here you go, all the rear sensors are same part number but be warned they are expensive, you wont see much change from £100 for one of these from VW
Have a look around you can get aftermarket ones way cheaper that are compatible

Thanks Pauly.
That's a good idea swapping them over, I'll do that first.

Quick search shows £10 used for an OE one on eBay. I prefer OE used to a new aftermarket one.

@Littleblackflash The self adhesive holders attached to the bumpers have two very fragile tabs which break very easily, might be worth warming them first.

Thanks - I found that out when fitting the bumper after my tailgate conversion. I used a bit of dynamat sheet over them to hold it in place which is why my first thought was it's fallen out.

I tried a few alternatives but ended up replacing the holder. The whole ‘bumper’, (I use that word lightly as it just cosmetic) is a flimsy piece of crap, I‘ve never seen so many tabs ready to break at the slightest touch. My old A4 has proper bumpers, been impacted a few times, scratched to hell but still intact.

I looked at swapping the sensor wiring around but found out you need to remove the bumper trim to get to them so I stopped. I have a tow bar fitted which doesn't help.

A replacement sensor arrived today so I'll remove the bumper at the weekend and fix it. I can return the sensor if it turns out to be something else.

Okidoki.
Please could you update the thread with the outcome? Would be useful as I have exactly the same issue and have a towbar fitted.

All fixed.

The sensor had failed so swapping for a new one (£15 delivered) has fixed the problem. It nice not to have the screeching buzzer each time I reverse.

So on this topic, and having recently looked at replacing my rear sensors alone (another story) i have had a quote from TPS for £64.66 each, plus VAT. So £258.64 for just the sensors.....
I'm always keen for OEM products, but this is another level, right?
