Highly caustic, I wouldn’t put anywhere near aluminuim.

I use Autoglym liquid clay on wheels for their 6 monthly big clean

I find the BiltHamber stuff really good. It comes with a detail brush included (although they don’t tell you this) and shifts brake dust easily. Stinks to high heaven, even smell it next day, but it works.
I can’t usually be bothered to seal the wheels though as they are the multi spoke jobs so a nightmare.

My van would be on beach quite a bit so apparently far easier to keep clean, plus with kids hard to find a minute nevermind hours. I'm over in NI so bit more competive I guess!

Tescos wheel cleaner works as well as the expensive brands.

It’s a wise move but won’t save you from kerbing etc. you still need to give them a clean once I a while.
