Purchased T6.1 110 Highline and all seems good but it is ticking over at 1000rpm. Is this normal? Journey back was a hour and half and mostly motorway

As per headline.. just picked up my T6.1 and drives great.. hour and half trip home but when stopping it is always at or just over the 1000rpm.. is this normal? Im used to cars ticking over at more 800 mark..

I thought maybe doing a regen as it hadnt been used for a few weeks but that wouldnt take that long? 78k on clock with full service history

Any help is most appreciated :-)

sod’s low it’s started to regen or part way through it.
The eco friendly engine that you have to drive for an extra 30 mins 2 to 3 times every full tank depending on your driving style.
But it is saving the planet because it cuts out at the traffic lights too.

There must be something up with it. Any lights on the dash. Stop start error come up with the oil pressure sensor with a flashing coil light.
The regen could’ve started 5 miles ago. It start when the dpf is at 100% and finishes when it’s at 30% with 8.5 grams of soot.

No other lights apart from the “A” start stop error and that it is idling at 1000 or just over.. drives lovely but has put a bit of a downer on day 1 with van :-(

It’s just doing a regen. It will finish it on your next journey, very unlikely to be anything to worry about.

Have you got a code reader like a carista? Download the vag app to monitor the dpf. Take it on the motorway for 20 mins it will complete the regen.

Get it home. Leave overnight.
Start it up tomorrow and see if the 1k revs is still happening. If it is take it for a 30 minute blast up a motorway if possible.
If after a 30 minute drive at 2k or above revs you still get 1k revs at idle and the crossed out A (stop start disabled) then maybe it's time consider there might be a problem.
Get yourself a dongle that's compatible with the DPF monitor app. The Carista and VGate dongles are compatible with this app. Then at least you can see what's going on.

Perfect thank you for this. It has warranty anyway but it put a downer on the start of our camper conversion journey haha

Took it for a spin after and after 20 mins in 4th gear it did drop to 800ish then so I thought happy days.. but after stopping somewhere and returning later on it was back at 1000 so not sure if this is normal or not.. the start stop still has the warning also so may need a trip to a garage i guess :-(
