Propex Underslung Gas Replacement

Thought I'd pop in with a bit of info for anyone with a Propex underslung gas tank for heating and cooking.

Mine was fitted on a new T6 TSi about 7 years ago and has worked brilliantly since, only occasional hiccup has been with the air/fuel ratio on the air intake pipe in unusually strong winds but I've fashioned a baffle which sorts that as and when needed.

My last couple of LPG fill ups have been problematic with the gas connecting but refusing to flow first time until finally it would not fill the tank.

So off to the local LPG convertors for a assessment followed by a £500 bill and a week later.

7 years of salted roads, stone chips, ski resorts, the odd beach, festival mud and ford crossing have caused enough corrosion somewhere on the tank or pipework to stop the gas flowing, the float working or a combination of both.

Better safe than sorry I had a new tank, float and pipework fitted inc a tank of gas for £495, the tank was also given a further coat of underseal AND a rust preventer.

I should have crawled underneath a couple of years ago and checked it all but you live and learn I guess, if you haven't then maybe you should.

Credit to the two chaps at G A S Auto Centre in Hudderfield, excellent job and great knowledge of all things gas.

TSi still running faultlessly, wish they still sold them I'd buy another :)
