Power steering dipstick

Really dumb question but when checking the level of the PS reservoir should it be screwed back in fully then removed for the level check, or just dipped in until the cap touches the top of the threads?

I’m assuming it should be screwed back down fully then removed again to check level.

Yes, screwed back in. There are two levels for oil hot, or oil cold.
