Pop Top Seal

The seal on our Reimo pop top is dropping off when we open it. It is not in the first flush of youth. Is there a fix to get back on and stay on? Or is a new seal needed?

Mine drops a bit now & again & it’s less than 3yrs old

If you squeeze the rubber channel bit together where it pushes on along its length every couple of inches to bend the metal ‘gripper’ (its inside the rubber BTW) & tighten it a bit it should stay on.

If that doesn’t work then maybe the internal metal gripper has given up & the whole strip will need replacing, short of glueing it onto the fibreglass, but if that’s the case the rubber itself has probably lost all flexibility & would be better replaced anyway.

Thank you. It seems to have worked. So fingers crossed it won't drop for a while.

We also find polishing the paintwork around the roof helps stop it coming off to. The rubber seal can become stuck a little to the body work. Keeping on top of polishing definitely helps to stop this.
We also use these flat nose grips, set at the correct pressure to get the rubber trim back in shape.

Good thinking, it also guarantees the same gap all around the seal.

Do you clamp when the seal is on the roof lip or off?

I always do it off the roof. Just do a test piece first and offer back on and adjust pressure accordingly.
It's a boring job but does work well.

Brandon,
