They need their arses kicked, that’s not just piss poor work it’s dangerous.Simplysurfbus nr Bristol..
I agree, its a bit shoddy, but not dangerous. They need their arses kicked, that’s not just piss poor work it’s dangerous.
I thought they have been added due to the issues with the roofs lifting while underway?I agree, its a bit shoddy, but not dangerous.
In fact some people choose to have the rear fasteners deleted, or just dont bother using them, @Bav.
No, thats at the rear of the roof. The lifting of the roof on the motorway was the Sport version. Thats why it was discontinued.I thought they have been added due to the issues with the roofs lifting while underway?
Yep, I only have the front tie-downs.I agree, its a bit shoddy, but not dangerous.

Yes. My mistake. I hit the names mixed up.
Hilo the company went bust. The guys at VTA bought the design rights from them and onward developed the design to produce the Horizon roof, which they manufacture, distribute and install. Whilst I wouldn't claim VTA's customer service is exemplary, they don't deserve you tarnishing them with the same brush as those charlatans that ran Hilo. It's a real shame to see Hilo/Horizon are still having issues
We fitted these a long time ago but very glad we got away from it and moved to Skyline Roofs... service is so much better and no issues!
Ah, no, sorry, that’s entirely the opposite of what I meant. Dan at VTA is a very good guy and I genuinely believe he has the capability of turning the ‘Hilo’ around. VTA are a whole different company and are very good at what they do - we’ve worked with Dan and I recommend them.Hilo the company went bust. Yeah, Dan's a good guy, but my experience was that he could be difficult to get a response from sometimes. He wasn't around much when they were getting the Horizon business up & running, for instance - understandable, but nonetheless frustrating. However, he always did right by me once I got to speak to him.Ah, no, sorry, that’s entirely the opposite of what I meant. What I meant was changing to Skyline from then HiLo meant we got a much better service and product. But we’ve not dealt with Horizon roofs. However, we did have these issues highlighted in this thread with the HiLo roofs.
I have no doubt that Dan and his team have massively improved the roofs - if anyone can do it, it’s them! They are very clever guys!

Yes, we were more than aware of that with the HiLo sport. When we worked out profit margins taking into account how long it took us to fit, it worked out we were making about £240 profit, before paying wages. That’s the other reason we decided to move away from the HiLo, to do it well, you had to take at least 5 days to fit the roof. We were losing money as a company.Yeah, Dan's a good guy, but my experience was that he could be difficult to get a response from sometimes. BTW, unlike the Hilo Surf, the Hilo Sport is actually a vey good roof, it's just that it was time-consuming to install correctly. This enticed many installers to cut corners, leading to numerous issues, which eventually overwhelmed the original manufacturer (who weren't particularly good at customer service in the first place!).
Haha - only just realised you're a convertor yourself. Seems I've been preaching to the choir.Yes, we were more than aware of that with the HiLo sport.
