Pop top covers

We have recently had a pop top installed on our van. First weekend using it and we've been caught in the wind and rain. The pop top did a terrible job of keeping the rain out, the side the wind was blowing the rain into was literally dripping through the bed board on to the bed below so we had two wet beds. It looks to be the mesh windows causing the issue.

I'm looking for a cover to go around the pop top to assist in waterproofing the windows if we're caught out again. I've done a bit of research and have seen the rainbow covers but they seem a little overkill for our needs, we're fair weather campers (if we can help it!) so the expense and bulk of it feels a little unnecessary.

Are there other options available that will add a layer of protection that we can keep in the van and chuck on if the weather turns like it did this weekend?

Following with interest.
I too was caught out with horrendous sideways rain and it came into the van like a waterfall.

I have no ideal how that happens as I can't see a way in.

I've coated the top in fabsil and things have been good but always wary of bad weather.

Mine was installed by Yorkshire Rose Camper Conversions. It looks to me like the standard unbranded pop top you see on the majority of vans.

It doesn’t have plastic side windows, just mesh with a canvas zipped inner. I assume it’s coming through the mesh then leaking in through the zip

Still doesn’t sound right.
I spent 2 nights in a storm at Bala at the weekend.
The wind and rain was driving from the side. I too have zip up mesh vents at the side and water started trickling down from the corners of it. I had a look and the carpet around the canvas join was bone dry and it appeared that any water was being directed back outside.
Whole van was dry inside and we had some horrendous rain and wind.

I was also at Bala!

I did google max wind speeds for pop top whilst there and one of the threads I found also mentioned not using a pop top in heavy rain so I didn’t think it was unusual, especially as it’s the side the wind was blowing in to

That was the worst weather I’ve stayed in in the camper yet and the first time I had seen water coming in from the mesh vents.
So I investigated to make sure my van was dry inside and it was.
It was just the one side like you.
