Ply bed ?

Hi, I have just fitted a Kombi nation/fortywinks type bed.
I used 3/4" ply boards.
I have seen various homemade bed set ups where they put holes in the bed boards for ventilation.
It is a day van with occasional sleep overs not a hardcore camper.
Are the holes necessary ?

For weight concerns removal of some of the board can be a good idea, especially if you have not used a light weight ply. Regardless of weight, removing some of the board by jig sawing slots or hole sawing lots of circles will let you mattress breathe and keep cool.
