Parking Assist loosing it's marbles!

Hi gang,

I'm experiencing a very strange Park Assist behaviour from my 2022 plate T6.1 and I wondered if anyone could shed light or has experienced same?

When Parallel Parking with Park Assist (either side) the van confidently begins proceedings yet totally overshoots the space and mounts me about 2 feet onto the curb.

This happens absolutely consistently now and has been doing so for a few weeks.

Don't get me wrong, it perfectly parks me in the space, absolutely dead centre between the two cars... But also parks on most of the pavement! I look like I've having the biggest senior moment of all time!

All the parking sensors seem to working correctly when I'm maneuvering normally. Sensors are clean and unobstructed. Haven't had a bash and, till very recently, the Park Assist was faultless.

Whilst I don't often use the Park Assist function (because I can actually park my van) it's more the concern that's it's maybe symptomatic of a different fault elsewhere.

Any thoughts, similar experiences or advice would be massively appreciated.

Cheers all

Are the cars either side on the pavement ?

The van only sees other vehicles and does not recognise small kerbs and pavements

Yes cars on either side of the space, the space itself has plenty room for the Van to fit in so no issues there. Yet the Parking Assist throws the van into a very sharp angle consequently mounting the curb.

Initially I thought it was confusing the space for a Bay Parking space (as can occasionally happen) but this is definitely not the case as it happily mounts the curb then straightens out into (what it thinks) is a beautifully parked position

Does it do it parking both sides, to the right and to the left?

Yes exactly that - the issue is the same on each side regardless. The way it takes the steep angle is same and the end result (laughable curbing) is also the same.

The fact that it happens consistently on both sides and isn't an intermittent error I'm guessing means it's not down to an individual malfunctioning proximity sensor?

Have you changed anything that would require the sensors to need recalibrating? - wheel size, ride height, bumper change etc.

That's the weirdest thing - absolutely nothing has been adjusted or changed... At least not recently. The van rides on 19 inch aftermarket alloys and has been dropped 50mm. But all those mods were done over 2 years ago and there's been no issues whatsoever since those changes
