Online service history

Can anyone shed any light on where to find the service history online for my bus ? I've been on the VW website etc and found nothing regarding the commercial side. I have the vw app for my car and works a treat but struggling to find anything regarding commercial.

Anyhelp would be appreciated

Is there any way to access it as an owner online or is it only the dealer who can tell you. I'd quite like to know if and when the 18 month old van I've purchased was serviced.

Pop in to any vwcv and they can tell you of any service history and alI work that’s been carried out.

Also seen mentioned it's possible to order an empty service book online, is this through VW or is it an eBay thing?

I doubt you could get previous history printed as it would contain previous owners sensitive information unless you are the sole owner then it may be possible if you visit the dealer with the van and ID.

Get in touch with TPS parts and ask them otherwise eBay it is.

I've got a print out of the service history for my 6.1 from the dealer I bought it from - only contains a record of the work done and when nothing personal - same as a paper copy.

All the paperwork for work done that came with my van did contain the previous owners details but following on from @roadtripper's comment it looks like VW can provide alternative paperwork without these personal details. Worth an ask at your local dealer in that case.

If the owner kept the service paperwork they were given direct from the garage and handed it over then that will have their details on it, but that's their choice, AFAIK the central record doesn't.

Just as a quick update on this, I had my Van service at an authorised service centre, they were able to print out a record of all services carried out provided they had been done at an Authorised service centre, so I have. (in theory) a full service history for the van. However the previous services are restricted to only showing the date and mileage of the service, no details or which service centre, what operations were carried out or any personal details related to the previous owner were included.

Just had some work done on my van and MOT and I mentioned this to the garage, they said there's an online portal that they add details of services to

I asked if they could send me the link but they didn't know what it was, and guided me to VW Preston

Anyone have this mysterious link - apparently you can enter your vin number to access the details

Though having said the instructions at this link suggest that access the Digital Service Schedule may be free...

Or maybe not as this is in the terms and conditions if you start registering as an individual:

The areas "Digital service schedule" and "Information for individual vehicles (vehicle data)" are not available for registered private customers.

Just registered to have a look (as a business).

Seems to be for repair manuals but they are all accessible online for a flat period of time. Reckon it is possible to save a page or so at a time though. All the repair and some training manuals for all VW from 1968 to now.
For a price - either per hour/day/week/month/year (7euro/30/130/310/2850) with printing rights.
Can download the Indexes for each manual for free.
However - can't get a service history for my vehicle on this site. Reckon that is something you'd have to get next time you drive past a dealer.

It's the Digital Service Schedule I linked to - if you click the link to the pdf on that page it has a screenshot of an example service record.



What I don't know is if you have to be vetted as a business first given you can also enter information on it.

But that will likely be the access the independent garage was talking about.

So I've managed to register as a consumer and got as far as this but nowhere obvious to enter my VIN to see my service history

As I said in the post above, not available to private customers - you need to ask a favour from a business with access.

That's a pain - I was told it was added to the online service thing but a bit annoying that it's invisible to me

The garage I used for the first 4 years of the vans life is no longer going and I didn't ask for paper copies of the services - foolish I know but I'd been going there for 20+ years and had no warning they were going to shut

Anywhere you take it for work should have access, it's not VW only.

If they don't then to some extent you have to wonder where they are getting the service manuals from...

One of the van centres I was looking for vans looked up a few private sale VINs for me - his view was if I got a van I was likely to take it to them for service so worth being helpful. Always worth an ask.
