Hi there , my name is Nuno i’m Portuguese, I’m an 46 year petroleheqd , married , three wonderful child’s and I live in luxembourg and in the beggining of this year i acquired a VW Multivan T6 2.0 TDI 150hp 4Motion (2017), it has 240000 Km in the odometer . I always wanted to have one , as I’m a big VW Fan , would liked to have an older one with an aircooled engine but so be it . Actually I wasn’t planning to buy it so soon but an opportunity came and I took it . It was from a colleague at work , had been stoped more than a year due to unsolved problems in the van by VW dealership’s . It had a coolant leak for more than three years if I’m not mistaken.
In this trhee years every time going over and over again, they change radiator, intercooler , Turbo , some coolant pipes , the radiator from the heater of the interior . And nothing solved . So he was sick and tired and asked me if I want’it to buy , he made me a good proposition, and I take’it for me .

So I solved the problem the week after changing the AGR radiator and valve . All the system was changed, and another pipe on the process .

Cleaned the exhaust pipe , changed a side mirror, found and bought rear three places seat, they where missing, change tires , made a major overhaul, brake fluids change , brakes pads and disc’s, all filters , 4 new tires , only missing automatic gear box and transmission overhaul , as it doesn’t need for the moment .

She passed the annually technical inspection with 0 defaults .

Now I need to solve two minor issues , one is that she doesn’t work straight, like misfires , when the engine is cold and at low rotation , round about 1500 up to 1900 RPM. I think this can come from on injector .

The second one is that my calling lights some time don’t go off they turn on like if you had a door open .

And the third one, with no reason at all whatsoever, the alarm goes on when the van is locked , the only way to stop his to turn off the interior alarm (volumetric ?) when Van is closed . I think the second and third one are related and maybe the cause could be the battery’s health .

So thanks for accepting me and if you have any idea about the problems?
I’m all ears.

Nice van. Looks like you have solved lots of the faults.

Have you done a scan with something like VCDS??

I don’t have VCDS at home , it’s too expensive to buy a professional computer to read faults and reset everthing . I’m searching something cheap but still didn’t found . I had something that you would connect to the OBD plug, and connected to your phone via Bluetooth but doesn’t work anymore and was not so performant .

Welcome along to the forum. Hope you manage to sort these last few niggles

Well, the alarm triggers are logged in BCM memory. VCDS can read the log. You won't regret having VCDS with T6.

The only thing pissing me off is the alarm going off with no reason , I will try to pass over the garage , but because the ceiling light goes one when I’m driving maybe a faulty sensor on door lock .

For the gasping and tossing when the engine is cold (like misfires , it’s less and less perceptible, so I guess it needs to run a bit , I bought a 5 in 1 additive to clean all the admission and exhaust system maybe it will help .

Thanks it give me some clues but I stopped reading the tread at the middle of the answers it was starting to become to technical for me . I’m sorry . I will try to buy a simple error reader . In this moment o don’t have a lot of time and patience to really learn this things

Not every time , some days. What i noticed is that when the alarme goes off I open and take out the interior alarm and it calms down

Yesterday for exemple the alarm went off and I had taken out the interior alarm by pushing the button before I exit . I also had changed the driver’s side mirror maybe a faulty sensor on the door or a cable of the driver’s door .

That’s what I was going to say - insects are the cause of mine. Mine goes off say 3 times a year.

However, this…

…is a bit puzzling. Can I check - you’re saying it went off after you had disabled it?

Yes , this time I had disable it , maybe I didn’t do out right it was this only time it happened like that .

But this morning I’m going to the garage to read the error codes and the alarm codes in the OBD .

Sorry for my English if it isn’t so understandable. I will post after the result of it.

Could be the door switch then, or wiring to it.

Don’t worry about your English, it’s much much better than my German or French. :)

So just came from my VW dealership. Long story short, the alarm goes off because of the switch on the engine cover. I put some W40 in it not long time ago but I already had this problem before it , I’m going to open the engine cover and spray-it with contact cleaner . Otherwise if it doesn’t work I will leave the car in the dealership to control wiring and switch . I don’t have time now because I leave normally staturday on holidays if everything is good to go in my house .

It will be my first road trip with the van

So , long story short .

Just made over 3000km, 2200km just to get from home to my destination , 0% problems and 100% fun . What a lovely ride to travel , better than in my wildest dreams . Mi kids just loved it .

The tossing and gasping disappeared, but I still notice in cold start she’s not very linear but after two or three minutes working, the engine stabilise. The smell of diesel not well burned when she’s cold, it goes away when she’s hot I think . So maybe I really have a faulty injector.

For the rest of, as I’m not very familiar with the van and inside dimensions , I want to ask you something . I kinda feel she doesn’t refresh enough inside , even though I feel fresh air going out the vent’s grills . Is it normal or should I I go to a dealership and recharge the gas of the air conditioner system ?

Thanks in advance for your help and tips .
