Evening folks!

After a few years of generally trying to talk myself out of it, i've finally taken the plunge and bought a T6 Kombi.
Bit confused as to how i proceed with insurance for when i eventually pick it up next weekend....
Currently have a multi-car policy with Admiral for my tiguan and the wife's focus - tiguan is being traded in for the T6.
Van has sportline kit fitted, sidebars, coilover suspension, alloys, upgraded seats, rear is carpeted, towbar fitted and engine re-mapped from 102 to 140bhp.
Do i declare all of those mods to ensure a "like-for-like" replacement / valuation and should i go to a specialist insurer instead of Admiral?

Thanks in advance for any advice re the insurance.

Looking forward to getting stuck into the forum for some ideas.

Rob

Phone Admiral and ask, be aware that some car insurers simply say, "sorry we don't insure commercial vehicles" regardless of seats or conversions. I had a multi car policy with Direct Line but they wouldn't put the T6 on it, I had to go through their commercial vehicle department even though I'm retired and it's a private vehicle.
If the modifications, i.e. alloys, suspension etc is factory fitted sportline kit you don't have to tell them, just tell them it's a sportline, but tell them about the remap.

I have mine on an Admiral multicar policy.... It started life as a panel van but i told them at the time it would be converted to a camper and they were fine with that and told me to ring them once converted and they took a list of all my modifications and new valuation and adjusted the policy accordingly.

Best to ring them and explain in advance just in case... they seemed quite good when i dealt with them...

Give Adrian Flux a call, it's very much their specialist area, and they are quite competitive as well.

A-plan were really helpful and on the ball...might be worth a try especially if you want agreed valuation. Good luck.

For what it's worth (and as a new bus owner) I'll second the support for Adrian Flux. I ended up using them whilst also chatting with A-Plan (who were also really helpful). In this instance, specialist insurers really are a good option if you are planning further mods. I've recently bought a standard factory kombi and outlined what I would like to do to it and Adrian Flux were really in tune with the discussion. We had an issue with having a long term period of 'no claims' that couldn't be transferred to the bus whilst that car was still being used. Adrian Flux basically said they would mirror the no claims history to bring our premium down.
That's my experience, and whilst A-plan were just as helpful, they were limited on the no claims history.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the replies. Decided on A-Plan in the end really for no other reason than they came highly recommended by the guys i bought the van off (were also very competitive on price). When i called they were more than helpful and as some of you have already said, were really up on the van and types of mods possible etc. Filled me with confidence that in the event of a claim (fingers crossed that will never happen), i will be looked after. Thanks again for the advice.
