First contribution (nailed on to be in the wrong place in forum)

Hi,

Ill keep it brief and in points but I need help on what to do:

Bought new converted van
Picking it up on 28th june
Going to France 12th july
Won’t have v5 in time
And won’t have crit air in time

What can I do to get around this and still travel?

Thanks for help and advice in advance

V5s only take a few days so dont see that being an issue ?
Not sure about the critair timescales or if you can source locally ?

'Meant ' to have your V5 if asked but we've never needed it and never bothered with a critical air either cuz we avoid the zones .
Word is they're looking at doing away with it all anyway .

In 35 years of Continental motoring I’ve never had to produce my V5, even though I’ve had “interactions” with local plod.
Got a Crit Air sticker when they first came out, never had to use it.

Ignore Crit 'air.....its a dead dog.
V5, should come within 5 days but I wouldn't worry if you don't get it in time.
Police more concerned with insurance and drugs in France. Stick religiously to speed limits to avoid interaction with the Filth

Just back from France. As usual, took V5 but not asked to show it at any time.
Have had a CritAir for a few years and don't believe that I have ever been through a zone. I do avoid Rouen though, as they apparently get quite excitable about them.

CritAir confuses me. I have one, I went through Rouen going down and coming back. How do they know I have one? Are there roadside scanners reading the QR code? We didn't see any local LE in either direction checking despite crawling through at 5 MPH on the way down.
How do they check?

I believe they updated the zoning so now it’s any town with a population over 100k that requires a sticker?

As for enforcement whenever I speak to French people they all say the same thing- they laugh that they’re getting as bad (in terms of number of rules) as the UK but then admit hardly any are enforced.

You only need the CritAir if you are going into a restricted zone. Not difficult to avoid them.
