Hello everyone

I’ve always fancied a transporter and found this forum recently.
The knowledge and experience on here is insane. Haven’t been able to put it down over the last week or so.
What am I after?
A few weeks ago I didn’t have a clue, a van that could do everything I guess
Camping with the family off and on grid, then mountain biking, then towing the caravan with all the gear
I’ve sort of decided on a Kombi SWB DSG with the possibility of fitting a Forty Winks bed or similar, a cooking pod and fridge, all removable so I can use the van for the other purposes.
From the information I’ve gathered reading through the posts, servicing and maintenance is key to the longevity of a second hand transporter, with VW service record being the best, is this correct?

Others are far more technically prepared than I but most vehicles like to be driven especially diesels so vehicles that have been driven very short mileages me develop some problems but a good clear service history is important I feel. Their has been a problem with 1 specific engine in the T6 - 204ps Bi-Turbo CXEB T6 Engine & Turbo problems -
