I'm in the market for a van ,I'm looking at getting a t6 lwb 68 plate euro 6 van . Plan is to insulate, sound deaden and carpet line ,add a second row of seats and second row windows. Pretty normal stuff for now . 1st question, do I need to change the logbook. 2nd question, where do I go for cheap insurance, I think 750 from Herts with 11 years ncb is a bit steep considering it's sdpc insurance like a car . 3rd question , best place to look for some 2+1 seats that aren't a million pound TIA

@Scotty P. Plenty of folks pop in the windows and extra row of seats, don’t think I’ve ever read that this requires a V5 alteration. As for insurance I have always found A-plan competitive and less than half what you’ve been quoted and my van is declared as modified.
Seat combo’s often come up for sale on the forum, or alternatively check out flea-bay. Cotswold T5 is one place that often strips vans and sells interiors on, or North West Transporter Parts. Just search VW Transporter seats, and you’ll find lots. It is well worth getting them fitted properly to be safe in the knowledge that in an accident they will remain anchored in place. Somewhere like OxfordT5 in Witney, Oxon, @VWVC can fit them and provide a certificate for your insurer.

I'm with Hastings van insurance, best price compared to others for the same cover.

You need to inform DVLA of seating and windows

FBook groups, eBay and here.

Thanks for heads up, I'm down sizing from 6 seats to 4 in a conversion. I have insurance to suit but didn't know you had to notify DVLA. Would that also have to be done if I added rear 3 bench seat later down the line or would you suggest to include from offset (7 seats) albeit I would be shuffling seats about as and when suits

On the insurance, it will remain a commercial vehicle. Even factory kombis are often classified as commercial (mine is) and can't be changed I don't think (maybe someone else can confirm?). It would be a lot less hassle to buy a Kombi, as you won't be removing bulkhead etc, having to source and fit seat belts, drop the tank and exhaust for seat mounts......
