Need advice new to transporter

I'm looking at a 2015 transporter wav, which has the ramp at the rear and the floor was dropped.

The ramp has been removed and a plate has been welded to the end between the vehicle and the bumper.

I have zero interest in making it a camper, just want it purely as a 6 seater with cargo space at the rear for family trips.

I just want a transporter cause I like the look of them, but also classified as a m1 as it's better on insurance.

Previous chap has put a sheet of plywood and carpeted the top.

Is this a stupid and regrettable purchase or should I just buy a normal 9 seater shuttle and remove the rear seats.

I can get this vehicle for £11,000 with 98000 miles. Gearbox is DSG and it's been serviced along with other things which the bill ran up to £5000.

Not all transporters are M1. Depends what it was before it was converted to WAV.

If it's a bargain compared to a similar age/mileage Shuttle, then it's worth considering.

Presumably can be converted back to seating easily enough, it will have been a passenger vehicle to start with.

It's classified as an M1 I already checked that.

My only issue is the rear being dropped. I want to know is the suspension altered / different to off the shelf parts?

  • 2015 transporter shuttle wav
  • 98k miles
  • Has full service history for the first 5 years and then they got a local garage to do it.
  • A plate was welded on at the rear, to prevent elements getting inside when ramp was removed and full bumper was added on. Ply board sheet was put down and carpeted to hide the dropped rear.
  • DSG Gearbox, recently reconditioned / refurbished.
  • New driveshaft done at same time as gearbox.

Van was sold to the previous person by broadway vans in Wales.

I can get this for 11k

Do you guys think it's a decent price? Or should I skip this as it will be a headache with regards to having a dropped floor.

Realistically I will not put in 9 seats and use it predominantly for moving cargo when on holiday or chucking the motorbike in the back.

I am a total noob to all of this and any help would be very appreciated, never owned a van. This would essentially replace my car and be my daily.

Seems like good value, the mileage is average for the age, it's a T5.1 with a Euro 5 engine (I think, might be wrong!) so you should consider whether you will face ULEZ type charges, my van is Euro 5 and it's not an issue for me but obviously it might be for you.

Just did a check now on gov site, it came back with this. What Euro status does this mean? I assume it's a T5.1?

Is this a good deal still? Just want advice :)

Excellent, that's a good result for you and will make it easier to sell in the future if you ever want to.
I wonder if it's been given ULEZ compliant status because it was a WAV van but either way it's good news for you if you buy it.

How do you know if it's a T5, T5.1 or T6
The chap never actually told me, but I do know it's a 65 reg

Should I be worried about the suspension at the rear and it is easy to replace parts when needed. I normally work on my own vehicles and buy from euro car parts. But as this is a wav vehicle, I don't want to be bent over a barrel with prices for special parts.

Do you think it's worth the 11k

My van is a 65 reg too, but obviously that relates to the date of registration, not the date of manufacture.
Yours has the appearance of a T5.1, it would have been one of the later ones.

You can see in the photo below of my T6 the headlights, front wings, and side repeater indicators are all subtly different.

and T5.1's didn't come with a dog as standard.

Okay that is a good indicator when looking at them side by side.

Do you think the suspension at the rear will be awkward?

No reason for the suspension to have been touched so imagine it will just be factory standard kit
