Mystery button

I just happened to notice this button at the weekend and I have no idea what it does. Granted I haven’t pressed it as of yet so maybe it’s obvious. It’s located on the drivers side b-pillar. Any ideas?IMG_2667.webp

It disables the internal sensors for the alarm.

It's in the book of knowledge.

It only works when you open the driver door.

Open the door, press the button, it should light up orange?
CAB correct re the button press with the driver door open, all other doors closed, but the last part is to lock the driver’s door with the key. If you press the fob to lock the door it reverts to a full alarm set, well on my T 6 anyway.

Just tried mine
locked as normal when camping push button goes from red to orange locked it on the fob light goes out sat there waving arms about no alarm as motion senors disabled unlock orange light comes back on
i only ever use it when the pop tops up and we go walking for the day or pop in the shops and leave the dog in the van when i first had the van i didnt bother with it only to come back to your van alarms been going off all day.

Or if you forget to press the button on the B pillar, a second press of the lock button on the key fob will have the same effect and disable the interior sensors.

This got me curious so went out to van and yes the part set worked even with the fob to lock the door. Realised that when I first tried the part set which would only work with the key was months before I discovered an intermittent fault with the central locking. This was a pita that took over a year and four trips to the dealer who eventually found a door module for the near side sliding door was the culprit. I never connected the two and have used the key when part setting the alarm since. Doh. Still it does remind me to press the button when on ferries, etc.
