Hi all,
The van I recently bought is driving perfectly and isn’t showing any faults, but last night I decided to do a vehicle scan just to check everything over.
I went to a friend who has a Launch scanner, but straight away it asked for the VIN number to be entered, which he said he’d never seen before. After entering it, the scanner came back with “couldn’t find any modules.”
He suggested trying a more advanced scanner at the garage, so I went down today and had the same issue again — asked for the VIN and then showed “couldn’t find any modules.” He said it’s something he’s never come across before.
Has anyone experienced this issue?
I’ve done a bit of searching and found a few posts mentioning aftermarket stereos causing communication problems, but my van has no aftermarket stereo or electrical modifications.
I’m wondering if there could be another simple explanation, as obviously not being able to scan the vehicle could become a problem. I do know the garage that has serviced and maintained the van, so they must have scanned or tested it at some point. Unfortunately they’re closed until Monday, so I can’t ask whether there are any blockers or anything unusual fitted.
Ideally, I’d like the van to work with normal generic diagnostic tools rather than needing something specialist.
I’ve also spoken to a VAG specialist auto electrician, and he said he’s never seen this issue before either.
Any ideas or anyone found a fix for something similar? Thanks.
