Damn I need more power! My old 20 yr old T5 2.5, mapped to 181bhp just cruised up Garrowby Hill in Yorkshire, new 6.1 Kombi 150 definitely struggled yesterday on the way to Bridlington ... Bosch ECU

Strange, I have a 2023 T28 Camper, full conversion, DSG 150 and it flies up Garrowby no problem. In fact, I was surprised how easily it managed it. I did push past the accelerator resistance point though.

Same here, full camper conversion too.
When I ordered my van in '23 I opted for the 150 as I was scared away from the BiTurbos. I was a bit sceptical about the 'only 150' at first but it turned out to be absolutely fine (as the builder assured us many times). About 23 K mls. on the clock today. We've took it through the Swiss, French and Italian alps without a struggle anywhere. No crazy high oil temps either. Even at 40 C in the south of Italy driving along at 125 -140 KM/h on the motorways, the oil temp steadies around 110 deg. C. That equals peace of mind, for me at least. It really is a sweet engine imo.
That said, I did the get the DSG remapped by TVS Engineering and this was a huge improvement for the overall drivability. The optimised software and shifting patterns really brought the engine to life. Keeping it away from lugging (too) high gears at (too) low revs all the time as the stock mapping does to help emission regs etc. The DSG is also a lot quicker and more alert on the throttle to drop a gear - or two - for acceleration/take over etc. Within 5 minute after the remap you're like 'oh yes, this is exactly how it should have been from the factory'. I can't recommend this enough!
You need to investigate why the performance of your 150 kombi is an outlier from other 150s that are carrying a full camper conversion. It may simply be your expectations, but what you describe doesn't accord with my experience in a 150 camper.

Thanks Bav, couple of people on the other thread saying the same, pretty sure it's just my expectations, and the silly big wheels, and coming from a T5 that was lighter and had been mapped.
I don't think I pushed past the throttle stop (must remove that) on Saturday, so that may have helped.
